Woodson High School is located at 9525 Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22031, at the east end of Fairfax City and just across the street from Fair City Mall. Founded in 1962, the school was named after Wilbert Tucker Woodson, the superintendent of Fairfax County Public Schools from 1929 to 1961.

Ranking #74 on Newsweek’s Top 1000 U.S. High Schools in 2008, and recently remodeled, Woodson High School has the largest campus in Fairfax County and caters to 2,200 high school students, as well as housing the Woodson Adult High School, a program that allows adults to earn their GEDs or high school diplomas. Woodson’s mascot is a Cavalier and their colors are navy blue, red, and white. Most students attend Frost Middle School right next door before moving onto Woodson High School, where they can choose to be a part of any of the top performing arts or academic clubs and AAA sports teams.

Several communities are served by Woodson High School, including Mantua, Olde Creek, Canterbury Woods, Truro, Long Branch, and Wakefield Forest.

Mantua Hills, a large subdivision across the street from Woodson High School, contains numerous styles of single family homes, ranging from 1,300 square feet to as much as 5,000 square feet. Most homes have at least 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, although many have 4 to 5 bedrooms and up to 4 bathrooms. The neighborhood is surrounded by parks; Woodburn Road Park, Eskin Park, and Mantua Hills Park; and also provides easy access to Fair City Mall and Main Street.

Starlit Ponds is the subdivision to the east of Woodson High School, right next to Frost Middle School. These single family homes range from 930 square feet to 2,300 square feet and come with 3 to 5 bedrooms and 2.5 to 3.5 bathrooms. Just a few minutes walk away from both Frost Middle School and Woodson High School, Starlit Ponds provides access to playgrounds, fields, a track, and tennis courts.

To the west of Woodson High School is the subdivision of Somerset, which contains homes that are surrounded by trees and range from 1,200 square feet to 2,500 square feet. These homes have 3 to 5 bedrooms and 2.5 to 4 bedrooms, as well as an attached garage and at least a partial basement. Somerset is backed by Calvary Memorial Gardens and Fairfax Memorial Park, and connects to Burke Station Road, providing easy access to both Main Street and Braddock Road.
